The Real Tea Party

I think this post is going to be less controversial than I led you to believe.    There is a underground tunnel that connects our studios with the theatre.  This tunnel also connects with the exhibition hall and  I as I was walking to the studios after a show I poked my head in and was highly surprised to see a lego lovers paradise.   There were legos everywhere!  It was every little boy's dream, and maybe some girls too.  There was a surplus of sy fy leggos but I was a sucker for the history ones.  Check out this display of the Real Tea Party.

and on an unrelated note:  who is the viking master?

The Ugly Truth

While everyone in the audience gets to see the ballerinas in their pretty pink pointe shoes, not everyone gets to see what is happening underneath those satin shoes.  What is my toe armor?  Masking tape on the big and little toe with a paper towel in each foot for cushion.

No two dancers do exactly the same thing.  Check out these tape jobs.

Still think ballet is pretty?

Fall Festivities

I know, I know, it is only September (well almost October), but I'm so excited for fall I just had to give you some highlights from my last few weeks. I've been so busy with starting and getting in settled school that I have been slacking, big time. Hopefully I can step it up!

My parents and I at JMU's home opener (look at that pretty new stadium)

Last weekend I got to visit my sister at Clemson and go to the football game where they beat Florida State!

Kristin (my roommate) taught me how to make homemade salsa for the redskins game! (It does not look that good, but it was delicious.

Just some matching bean boots in the library.

This weekend Emily and I will be reunited for the Tech v. Clemson game, Emily can't decide to root for, Danielle and I will be decked out in orange and purple. Can't wait for some apple cider and coozies.

Menchie vs. Molly

There is currently a fierce battle taking place on top of Queen Anne hill.  Where does your allegiance lie,  with lower calorie fro yo or with good ole' fashioned ice cream?   Menchies opened up over a year ago, but now with a new Molly Moons right down the street,  I'm having a dessert dilemma.

Pro of Menchies:  Awesome flavors and endless free samples

Molly's on the other hand has a 1 scoop option which can be split into two flavors...  Amazingly, it ends up looking more like a 2 scooper to me ; )

Menchies has an impressive topping and candy selection.  My personal favorite being the fresh fruit and cheesecake bits (seen here)  Also, I keep the Menchie man spoons to use for lunches.

Yummm!
Dilemmas like these are OK with me.

Meet Pepper

Pepper is the family dog, and he is super old. Today I forced him to hang out with my all afternoon while I wrote cover letters for jobs. Doesn't he look sympathetic?

Back to School.

Ready or not Seattle the fall quarter is just beginning!  What's on tap for me:

a)Intro to Arts Management through Seattle University and PNB's Second Stage Program
b)  My last Spanish class ever through University of Washington!

What is essential to my school year?

#1-  Caffeine and Quiet from local coffee shops

#2-  Second to my addiction of coffee is my addiction to highlighted, color coded notes

#3-  New "school shoes", some things never change (thanks Target)

Simply Saturday.

While Fall is finally here, Seattle did a good job the last few days of reminding us what we will be missing the next few months.  After class and the first show of the our season I went down to Pike's Place Market for food and flowers.

5 dollar fresh dahlias

cozy coffee with baileys and whipped cream

open faced crab artichoke melt at Cutters.

Great Find:  These chairs.  In case you are tuckered out walking up the hill from Pike's Market.

Word(s) of the day

Mawkish (as defined by Merriam-Webster online)
  1. Sickly or puerilely sentimental
  2. Having an insipid, often unpleasant taste
Which brings me to..

Puerile
  1. Childish, silly
  2. Juvenile
Did you already know these words? They're new to me, and I'm a HUGE fan. I love learning new words. Yes, I know how nerdy that sounds.

Crazy for cable

No, I'm not talking about television.

Some people go nuts for those pumpkin spice lattes. Personally, fall has me craving all things cable knit. I love it in neutrals. I love it in bright colors. Love it all. All images are from Pinterest, obvi.
Speaking of TV, How I Met Your Mother premiers tonight. So excited!!

Ice Baths and Overalls

Pop!  "S**t!"  Ankle Sprain.  One of the most frustrating thing about being a dancer is getting injured.  Sadly, I've done it so many times I know the drill.  I sprained my ankle about two weeks ago which probably amount to about 70 ice baths.  At work, we have a huge ice bins with convenient trash cans and lovely toe caps.  I definitely took those toe caps for granted.  On the weekend I plunged my grapefruit sized ankle into the ice bucket thinking I was an ice bath pro.  Wrong.  Note to self:  need toe caps!

The second alarming problem with this photo is clearly the outfit.  I got some crazy idea that because somebody else can pull of overalls...  so can I?  I am not convinced.  This photo isn't helping.  I now view these overalls as a challenge... how to pull them off?

Hobbies

This past summer, Emily and Olivia, began their relationship with quilting. Yes, we know we know, it is a hobby that is usually restricted to those who are 45 or older, but in reality, it turned out to be one of the most rewarding activities! We began the process in June, and finished the process mid-August.

Here are some stats from our quilting endeavor
-240 statements of the phrase "stitch and b**ch"
-120 Hours cutting, sewing, measuring, binding, and making mistakes
-40 Romantic Comedies watched
-25 Nights in Olivia's basement
-3 bloody incidents

And here are some lovely pictures! For some reason I have no pictures of Emily's quilt, so Emily, post them up!

Piecing together the blocks of our friend Danielle's quilt, who joined us on our quilting endeavor!

Danielle ironing endless amounts of fabric.

The initial layout of Olivia's quilt.

Danielle and Olivia's finished quilts! We really need a picture of all three of us with our quilts!

A fall snack

Here's a great snack for all you autumn lovers (that's you Olivia)

Instructions:
Slice an apple. Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves on the slices. Drizzle with honey. Nom. The coloring makes it look less delicious than it was.

Also, people in GERMANY and ALASKA have viewed our blog. What???

I need a good way to sign these posts. I can't figure out how to make it say by Emily at the bottom, because I can't be signed into multiple Google accounts at one time. Olivia managed to do it though... Here is one way to sign off:

Things I have in common with blogs I stalk...

I stalk a lot of blogs. A lot. It's one of my go-to's as an unemployed being. I should probably stalk less... and then maybe I'd get a job.

Two blogs I am currently obsessing over are Young House Love and Rockstar Diaries. Both are interesting, have practical DIY ideas, and entertain me to no end.

So what do I have in common with these blogs, you may ask? Here goes:

So recently I was looking at stalking YHL, and I read about how the couple that writes the blog came to be engaged. WELL they happen to be Virginians, and John proposed to Sherry while hiking.. Old Rag. "Old Rag! I love that hike"... I thought to myself. Look! Here is Sherry right before the proposal

And me, at the same spot

Something in common!!!

Also recently, I was reading stalking Rockstar Diaries. Naomi, the author, mentioned that her sister used to dance at SAB. So did Amanda (fellow blogger). And Amanda knows her! and had met Naomi too! wowza!

So, random blogs I stalk aren't so random anymore.
